Beschreibung

Hinoki is a Japanese cypress species that is light and durable and gives off a delicate natural fragrance. It is ideal for cutting boards as the soft wood is gentle on sharp Japanese blades. Hinoki wood has natural properties that protect cutting boards from moisture and resist bacteria. Click here for Japanese knives.

To prolong the life of the board, rinse it briefly before each use to allow a film of water to form, which reduces colour stains and odour. After cutting fish or meat, a salt bath can be used occasionally to reduce odours.

Both sides of the board can be used and should be alternated to even out the shape and prolong the life of the board. Occasional light sanding and oiling can help to improve the performance and grain of the wood.
