STORY

Kagami Crystal Co, Ltd was founded by Kozo Kagami and opened Japan's first crystal glass factory in 1934. Since its founding more than eighty years ago, the company has developed advanced glassmaking skills and techniques, including hand glassblowing, hand cutting and engraving, to shape its range of original and high-quality glass products.

But perhaps its greatest achievement was becoming the official supplier to the Imperial Family in 1943. Its exquisite crystalware is also currently used in the Prime Minister's official residence and in Japanese embassies abroad to adorn formal dinners and state occasions.

Kozo Kagami said, "We should strive for genuine value creation while staying away from short-sighted, ephemeral creativity" and advocated the idea of "monozukuri-no-kokoro" or passion for excellence in production.
