Hatashikki and Mute Studio have teamed up to design a series of containers that combine traditional Japanese craft techniques and modern design. The linear round shapes go well with the natural grain of the aralia wood, which is easily visible through the lacquered exterior of each container. The "Wan" bowls sit well in the hand as their shape widens slightly towards the top. The bowls have a food-safe urethane coating that makes them suitable for food storage. Therefore, the wooden bowls are good for hot soups or pasta, as they do not get as hot as ceramic.

Each product a unique, accordingly formal variations in size, colouring and grain are possible.
